Hello, I’m Kathryn Grace

As Head of Design in the NHS England Transformation directorate, I lead on service design, interaction design and content design across our portfolio of work. I work across two teams 1) as part of a user centred design team in our digital transformation directorate and 2) as part of an emerging team in Citizen Experience, working on policy and strategy. My passion is to enable effective ways of working as one team as we steadily merge the previous NHSx and NHS Digital worlds under one brand. Outside of the NHS, I am a volunteer in the Service Design Network UK Chapter.

Previous to this role I have worked as a leading service design practitioner and mentor, led and coached teams, introducing service design to local government teams, NHS Trusts in the public sector and Orange, EE &
Co-op in the private sector. I have build and developed communities of service design practitioners through design jam and learning events across the UK and globally.

I enabled my father to live independently at home for the last six years of his life, living with dementia, managing and providing his care. This lived experience gives me a deep knowledge in the complexities of health, social care, voluntary and community services in the UK today. I continue to champion the role of family carers through my twitter channel @wecaredesign.
